New employees’ gym dedicated at Freeport Container Port

GODFREY SMITH, Director Freeport Container Port, cut the ribbon to open the new Employees Gym in the Gregory Rodgers Amenities Building, Freeport Container Port.  On hand for the occasion, from left to right are, J. The vision of a gym for employees of Freeport Container Port, Grand Bahama Airport Company and Freeport Harbour Company became reality last week, as the facility was unveiled in the Gregory Rodgers Amenities Building at Freeport Container Port.


The idea of an Employees’ Gym at FCP was a vision in the mind of Godfrey Smith, FCP Port Director, who did the ribbon cutting. On hand were Gary Gilbert, CEO Hutchison Bahamas Ltd., Phil Carey, Director GBAS, and J. Malvese Capron, Human Resources Director who declared the gym open.
“People go to the gym for a number of reasons; including, the improvement of their bodies and to feel better about themselves.
“Today that vision is realized, and we open a gym that will be accessible and available at no cost to all employees of FCP, FHC and GBAC,” said Ms. Capron.
CEO Gary Gilbert said that it is certainly the companies’ hope that the gym serves as a source of motivation to help in developing and maintaining healthier bodies and healthier lifestyles among employees.
A feature of the facility will be the team of on duty Gym Attendants/Personal Trainers. Doyle Adderley, Andrew Sweeting, Dwayne Marshall and Philip Pinder will be available to assist employees with their workouts and to ensure safety. The team also demonstrated various exercises for the employees present.

The gym is operational for employees between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 07:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Interested employees must register to use the facility and commit to the safety regulations in place.
