Cable Bahamas customers can expect improved service now that the company has moved into its new work space.
Monday was the company's first day in the new multi-million dollar complex located on the Mall Drive and according to Grand Bahama Opera-tions Manager Edris Wilson, the transition thus far has gone without incident.
"The transition from the old site to the new site was extremely seamless," Wilson said. "Of course, we had the help of all the departments out of Nassau, and also from the BTC personnel who facilitated it by helping to ensure that the necessary infrastructure was in place."
The company has been working on the construction of the new facility for the past two years.
"Cable Bahamas had been renting space for a while, which is customary with the company," Wilson explain-ed. "We always start out that way. But certainly after a while, we want to ensure a certain level of comfort for our employees and customers as well."
Wilson said that was the primary reason why the project was undertaken.
"Customers who came in yesterday can see an improved service and a greater attentiveness to their needs, in a more comfortable and spacious environment," Wilson said.
While most of the building has in fact been completed, Wilson noted that minor construction continues on the second floor, which is expected to be completed within a month.
Wilson added, however, that the company is pleased that this particular task is now near full completion.
"The long awaited completion of this building is finally here. Yesterday was business as usual, we're really pleased, and really thankful that we can see the end of this and really move on and prepare ourselves for the inevitability of competition because that's the next step," she said.
Noting that there were no major challenges during the construction of the facility, Wilson added that there were some delays in terms of getting the necessary equipment to the island on time.
