St Paul's Coca Cola 5K Road race

10 & Under waiting for the Race start

10 & under with Parents
Somehow I got coerced last week to sign up for the St' Paul's 5K road race at 8AM Saturday 3rd October.
Now seeing that St. Paul's is my husbands, Doug, Alma Mater and my nephew & niece attend this school, It seemed that my family affiliation had sealed my fate. My friend wasn't taking NO for an answer.
So I set my alarm for 6.30am. After a cup of coffee and dose of depressing morning news, I set off to find St Paul's.
After a few wrong turns and helpful directions from some early risers I found the registration & race site.
I was impressed by the turn out, there seemed to be about 200 people registered & waiting for the race start.

2nd place Women's winner- Susan Clegg- Missick

The race was being sponsored by Coca Cola & seemed to be an early practice race for the island various race teams. I saw a bunch of coaches prepping their young protegees. This was going to be fun.
The Race was divided into various categories,
3.5 mile run,
3.5 mile walk
1 mile walk
1 mile Run
And in various age categories.
10 & under, 12 & under, 13 - 19yrs
19-33yrs, 34- 45 & 50+

Close finish
Mr Bell the local Swim Teacher and it seemed race organizer, gathered everyone at the start, after waiting for some very late, late comers, the race began.
We started just off West Settlers way, ran down to the lights by the gas station, took a left ran down East Mall drive, turned left at East Explorers way and then left again at Frobisher Drive. We ran this route twice, and then for the finale route went down towards Columbus which added the extra half mile to complete the route.
Overall, the race race was well organized, we had to wait about 2 hours to get the results so we went off to Magnolia Cafe for an excellent Bahamian breakfast of Chicken souse, which I felt was well deserved.

Medals & Trophies

We arrived at St Paul's for the results, but a lot of the race participants had left.
The coaches were there to pick up medals and trophies for their runners. But I managed to get photos and also to pick up my trophy for coming first in my age range ( I shan't say) & 1st woman overall, finishing with a time of under 29mins.
Yay! for me.
